Prom Spot - Prom Prep: To-Do List for Guys

Sure you're not into all of the prom hype and want to play it low key, but there's still some basic stuff you've got to get done. Use our checklist to keep it all in order.

3 Months Before

Set a prom budget (start saving money if you have to) and stick to it.

Still need more cash? Ask parents for a loan or get an after-school job.

Got a potential date in mind? Just ask her!

Start getting your body and skin in shape.

Get a ride! Reserve a limo now before nothing's left.

6 Weeks Before

Visit a rental shop to pick out your tux. Make sure you get all the necessary accessories at the tux shop (vest or cummerbund, shoes, tie, belt).

Decide who pays for what with your date.

Find out what kind of corsage your date wants.

Hurry up and buy your prom tickets!

1 Month Before

Brainstorm pre- and post-prom activities with your friends and your date.

Make a restaurant reservation.

Stop by your local florist to actually pick out a corsage.

Talk to your parents about prom night curfew and plans, just so there are no surprises.

2 Weeks Before

Double-check your limo, dinner, and hotel reservations. You can never be too sure.

Get a haircut!

Pick out a new cologne that will make your date weak at the knees.

The Day Before

Call up your date to tell her how much you're looking forward to the big night.

Write down all the information you'll need for prom: phone and location for your date, your restaurant, the main event, and any post-prom plans.

Get a decent night's sleep.

The Day of the Prom

Pick up your date's corsage and stash it in the fridge.

Shave.

Clip and clean your nails.

Style your hair (but don't overload on hair products).

Pack up your prom essentials: breath mints, money, keys, cell phone, camera, prom tickets, corsage, and anything else you need.

You're all set!
