The right lingerie is the key to looking perfect in your dress. Luckily for you, we've got the 411 on what underwear to wear no matter what your dress style. STRAPLESSWhat to Wear: A good strapless bra with strong underwire and firm elastic will work for you (it'll also work for spaghetti straps and off-the-shoulder styles). Pick one with a deep plunge in front and a subtle push-up effect, and you'll get the cleavage (and support) you crave. (Picture 1) P.S.: Head to the local fabric or craft supply store and pick up some self-adhesive Velcro squares. Secure one side to your bra, the other to the inside of your dress' bustline -- your bra's guaranteed not to bust out! HALTER What to Wear: A low-back corset that uses extra boning and stiff cups. It'll give you the help you need up front but keep out of the picture in back. (Picture 2) P.S.: Alteration wizards can sometimes sew cups inside the dress or cut the back of a standard corset to fit your needs. SHEATH What to Wear: A Lycra or Spandex seamless slimmer (think strapless bodysuit or tube). Look for one that shapes your figure from the lower thighs up to your midriff. (Picture 3) P.S.: Stay-put thigh-highs with a wide top band will help eliminate fabric bulk beneath this slinky style. DROPPED WAIST What to Wear: An all-in-one bra-and-girdle combo so you don't need to worry about lumps and lines. (Picture 4) P.S.: Look for a bodysuit with a snap bottom to make those bathroom trips a breeze. Don't ever say we don't have you covered! V-NECK What to Wear: Depends on how low your dress goes! You may be able to wear a regular bra; but if the V really plunges, try petals or specialized adhesive bras. P.S.: Make sure your gown has special looping thread with snaps sewn into the bodice to hold straps in place. Or for a quick fix, try using double-sided tape to curb wayward straps. A-LINE What to Wear: Control top underwear to mold your hips. It also minimizes your waist, tames your tummy, and lifts your fanny under this slimming style. P.S.: If you're feeling girly, add a light crinoline slip to give your skirt some added fullness.
