If you want your crush to ask you to prom, a few well-placed hints never hurt. He's not a mind reader, you know.

Use body language
You can definitely use body language to your advantage when you're chatting him up. And no, we don't mean leaning way over in a low-cut top. Leave those moves to the Tara Reids of the world and focus on seeming open and friendly. Make eye contact regularly, incline your shoulders toward him, and remember to keep smiling! It's also alluring to touch your hair, neck, or arm. Don't fidget, bite your lip, or cross your arms -- that looks like you're closed off to him or you've got better things to do!

Hook him with a question
Don't leave him hanging at "hi"! Start with a specific question or piece of intel, like you heard your calculus teacher is giving pop quizzes today (hey, you're just doing the guy a service). Whatever you start with, make it specific. It's too easy to brush off a Q like, "How'd you do on the chem test?" He can answer that with one word or an eye roll, and your little exchange is over. Instead, try, "You play guitar, right? Have you heard of this new band? What do you think?"

A smile is worth a thousand words
Just catching a guy's eye and flashing him a sexy grin works wonders. Once you've got his gaze, coyly smile and then look away. A smile is the ultimate green light. It's like trying to get a dog to come to you -- he'll be afraiD...until you show him the goods (bacon! Or a smile).

Your opinion counts big-time
Nothing's less intriguing to a guy than a "yes" girl. So if he brings up a book you can't stand or a movie you thought deserved one star (at best), don't lie and say you love it. Instead, say something like, "Really? I'm more into...." The key is to keep your tone light (you're trying to pick him up, not pick a fight with him, remember?). He'll be impressed that you're one worldly chica. And that you challenge him.

Your exit is as important as your entrance
Don't linger so long you run out of things to say and there's suddenly an awkward silence. Leave him longing for more. Whatever you do, don't blurt out, "Okay, bye!" Say, "I've gotta go -- I'll see you around" and don't forget to shoot him one last over-the-shoulder look. After all, you've got places to go, peeps to see -- and he's going to want to be one of them!
