Prom Spot - Trend Alert: Younger and Hotter Dates

Getting a date for prom is as easy as supply and demand. If you're in need of a hot date, the solution is a simple lesson in economics.

Let's put this in terms every girl can understand: shoes. When you go shoe shopping, you aren't going to buy just any old pair of shoes; you want the cutest pair in the shop. Your fellow shoppers, however, have their eyes on the same style as you. Unfortunately, the store only has so many pairs in stock. Since the demand for this one adorable pair is much higher than the store can supply, some shoppers will have to leave with a different pair or no shoes at all.

Now, think of your high school as this shoe store: You're the shopper and potential prom dates are the shoes. Because all of the girls want the same small pool of guys to ask them to prom, the supply can't meet the demand. Don't worry, you won't be destined to a life of shoelessness -- you paid attention in econ. What do you do when the pair of shoes you want is sold out? You go to another store, silly! And there's a stocked store right under you (literally).

In terms of high school, cute underclassmen are an untapped resource for prom dates (the supply scales are tipping back in your direction). These guys can't ask anyone to prom, and they can't go unless someone asks them. So, they couldn't possibly pass up your invite. Even better, team up with a friend to ask a pair of younger hottie BFFs together so your dates have a friend to talk to. See? Your date crisis is solved and econ class just got so much more interesting.
